Being Prepared

Default FrameWhen rehearsing a show, there are a few things to think about to make sure you are properly prepared and ready to perform!
  • Make sure you are wearing something sensible. You might have to wear a uniform, but if not, try to wear something loose and comfortable so you can easily move and dance.
  • When it comes to shoes, it is a matter of safety! Wearing an enormous pair of high heels to dance in can be very dangerous! Trainers, plimsolls or even special dancing shoes would be a much better idea and will hopefully make sure you make it safely through to the day of the show without any broken bones!
  • Always have your script and a pencil to hand at all rehearsals. Making notes of everything you have to do on stage is the best way to work, and when you practice at home make sure you rehearse the lines you say, and the movements you have been given at the same time.
  • Try to make sure you turn up to every single rehearsal. Working on a show is working as part of a huge team, and with just a single person missing, the whole team falls to bits!
  • And finally... ALWAYS be prepared to have lots of fun! If you are happy to throw yourself into it and give everything a go, fun and laughter is guaranteed! Not everything will go right at first– that is what the rehearsals are for! But try not to worry, as they say, it’ll be alright on the night! ...
